Pride Callers
Monday, March 1st, 2010I’ve found a new favorite type of online poker player-the Pride Caller. This guy is someone you always want to be playing with when you’ve got a good poker online hand, because he just refuses to fold if you raise aggressively-his pride just won’t let him be pushed around. He’s a gold mine if you’ve got a winning hand. The first guy I found like this was a regular at a weekly home game I attended. I made a big raise after flopping a full house and the rest of the table folded, but he sat there thinking about his options. Mad that the rest of the online poker table folded and certain that he would too, I told him to hurry up and fold so that we could move on. He promptly called my bet. After a few attempts like this, I found that he was so consistent that the first guy with one or two big hands in a tournament could grab all of his chips fairly quickly. Unfortunately, he moved away a few months later, and the games became a grind again. The next time you play poker, try goading an opponent every now and then. Don’t overdo it, but a little nudge here and there might show you which players are liable to go tilt at the drop of a hat.
